Attention Inventive Thinkers - Inventors - Start Up Entrepreneurs! Do you feel you have the next BIG IDEA and want to bring it to the market but have no clue how to go about it?
I felt the need to put together a short to the point blog sharing my experience with wanna be entrepreneurs.
If you have a product idea, first I suggest doing research online to find out if anyone else has already had the idea. If not, hire someone who specializes in patent searches. Spend a few hundred dollars instead of thousands of dollars to make sure your product idea is patentable before you move forward with your new product idea. There is no point paying for a patent pending or international patent if your product idea is not patentable. This tidbit of information sounds simple to follow but you would be surprised by how many people make the mistake of moving forward with a product idea that is already taken and on the market.
If you come to find that your product idea is actually patentable, you can get a professional prototype created yourself. Do a search, find a manufacture who specializes creating professional prototypes without hiring a middle-man. There is no reason to pay someone to find a manufacture for you when you can easily find a manufacture on your own to create a prototype of your product idea. You will save a tremendous amount of money going about it yourself. Always keep in mind that you are 100% capable of hiring a manufacturer yourself. You want to have your prototype in your hands. You paid for it so you should have access to it. It's that simple.
OK, now you have your professional prototype created and it's time to try to get it to market. You can hire a manufacturer to mass produce your product and you can easily sell it online. You can sell it through Amazon. Amazon will package it, mail out the orders to customers and then you can receive your commission straight to your Paypal account. Again, it really is that simple. If you make many sales online, you might want to introduce your product to stores such as Walgreens, CVS and BedBath&Beyond. You want to do this because now you want your product on the their shelves. You want your product to make it to market.
I'm an entrepreneur at heart and I've made many mistakes in the past. I write online to help others realize that they can do the work themselves and doing so will save you a lot of money in the end. You are the visionary so become the CEO of your vision. People become successful inventors everyday and many of them do all the work themselves.
